JUNCTION ONE KEEPS CHILDREN SAFE WITH NEW SCHEME

Junction One is the first Irish based outlet shopping centre to introduce a pioneering safety scheme which offers a hotline number to assist parents and guardians in finding children who have been separated from them whilst out shopping. The Antrim based centre launched the Child Safe Shopping scheme in time for the busy Easter Holiday week-end and already has had excellent feedback from parents. By calling a dedicated Child Safe number (08700 621917) parents and guardians can be put in contact with Junction One’s security team, who will use a coordinated approach and CCTV to re-unite them with their children.

Child Safe has been successfully introduced in over 90 shopping centres across the UK since it was launched in 2003, but has never operated before in Ireland’s outlet centres. The initiative provides children with free wristbands for parents’ or guardians’ contact numbers so that, in the event of a child being lost, the parent or guardian can be contacted quickly.  Wristbands are available free of charge from Junction One’s Visitor Information Centre whilst the helpline number is displayed on bright, eye-catching posters located throughout the shopping centre.

Junction One centre manager, Leona Barr of said,“ The scheme gives shoppers peace of mind and reassures them that if their child gets lost this service can assist in finding them quickly”.

Richard Manville, Director and co-founder of Child Safe said:  “Whilst some NI based shopping centres have already adopted the Child Safe scheme, we’re delighted that Junction One is the first outlet centre in the island of Ireland to introduce it and centre staff have been very supportive in coordinating and implementing the programme."
