Lisney Director, David McNellis, says that it is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a quality golf course in the Greater Belfast catchment area.
“Blackwood is a very successful golf centre, considered to be Northern Ireland’s premier pay and play facility. It is situated within the Greater Belfast greenbelt and therefore enjoys a huge catchment of potential members. We also feel that there are opportunities to grow revenue through conferences and functions and through the enhancement or expansion of existing facilities,” Mr McNellis says.
“In addition, we think there is potential for future hotel and spa development at Blackwood, which may interest many potential purchasers. Blackwood might also offer the opportunity for the relocation of another existing golf course in order to free it up for development,” Mr McNellis adds.
The sale of Blackwood Golf Centre includes the lease, liquor license, investment income, buildings and two golf courses.
The Hamilton Course at Blackwood is built to US PGA standard and hosted the Ulster PGA in 1999. It is a 71 par course with three natural lakes and natural wood and gorse. Blackwood’s Temple Course is an 18-hole, American-style par three.
The facility has season ticket membership of approximately 700. The club currently holds a subsisting liquor license permitting trade on and off the premises.
The lease on the golf centre is held for a term of 99 years from May 1, 1992, expiring April 30, 2091 (approximately 83 years remaining).
